Classification (ECLASS and ETIM)

In short

Every part gets an identity and a standard classification, so it can be compared, substituted and matched to a shop’s assortment.

Identity first

Electronic components are identified by manufacturer and MPN; installation products usually by GTIN or a supplier code. Classification is an attribute, never the key.

Confidence and review

Each classification has a confidence score. Low-confidence lines go to a review list in the BOM; you can confirm or correct them.

Tip

Owned parts and custom parts (your PCB, printed parts) are marked as such instead of being classified.
